winter breaks

winter in the Appennines
If Mulino Carletti is secluded in summer, it is so much more so in winter. I was snowed in for a week as late as the first week of March -- and thoroughly enjoyed it!

closures for restoration work
We are still working on winter provisions at the Mill. We have put in a new wood-burning oven as part of the new kitchen. There is already a wood-burning stove in the study, which also heats room 3 above it by means of a kind of radiator using heat from the flue gases. And, of course the huge log fire in the old kitchen is always a joy in the winter months. We are in the midst of a round of upgrading and redecorating, so the Mill will not be available until approximately Easter 2009.
